Peace

Today the focus word is peace. Check out Marsha's Legacy Moments. I thank her for giving us a word each week to focus upon. She asks for one to share a verse on each focus word. You may do the same here.

The first verse that came to my mind was John 14:27 where Jesus is talking to his disciples. "Peace I leave with you. My peace I give unto you, not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

Isn't that wonderful. Jesus gives us peace. It is not this false peace that the world offers. He gives us His peace. So we know that it is perfect peace.

Have you thought about the meaning of peace? I looked up the definition of peace. There are a few:
  1. the absence of war.
  2. the absence of mental stress or anxiety
  3. harmonious relations, freedom from disputes
  4. to agree/pact
  5. state of tranquility/security
  6. freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts

The verse I posted on Marsha's sight was Romans 5:1 "Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God, through our Lord Jesus Christ."

With these 2 verses we have the peace of God and peace with God.
When we obtain peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, we can also obtain the peace of God. Jesus says that He gives His peace but we do need to take advantage of it.

How do we do that? In Philippians 4:6&7, we are instructed to "Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

We ask for what we need. He has told us we have not because we ask not. It maybe that we don't have peace because we are not going to him with whatever problem we have. Are you trying to take care of it yourself? Why should we be doing that when He has told us He will take care of our need?
Philippians 4:19 "And my God shall supply all your need, according to His riches glory by Christ Jesus."

Praise His name. He is going to supply all my need. He is the richest person I know. He is the most Powerful person I know. He is the most Intelligent Person I know. Why would I not turn to the Master of the Universe, who reigns supreme, the Most High God? He is also my Father. I am His daughter.

What do I need to fear? If God is for me who can be against me?
I pray that you have made peace with God so that you may experience the peace of God.

blessings,
Linda

  1. Linda, what a beautiful post! Thank you for the verse you chose to start off with. That was my great Grandmother Doty's favorite verse.

Amen! What do I have to fear? He is continually with me.

Blessings to you, my dear new friend!

Your comments are so welcome. Just make sure your comments are ones that you wouldn't mind that Mother read. I do promise not to invite her to read them though.
