Faith

Our focus word this week is Faith. For more thoughts than I give on this post visit Marsha. I have been doing some thinking about faith. You can not have faith in something or someone unless that thing or someone has proven to be faithful. One thing that I have definitely found is that my God is faithful. He has never failed me yet. Oh, I have failed Him many times but He has never failed me.

One of the first verses that I think of when faith is mentioned is Hebrews 11:1&2, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony."

This is saying that faith is the reality of things that we hope for, faith is the proof of things we can not see. Because of their faith the elders had a good testimony. These verses are just the beginning of the what we call the chapter that we call the Faith Hall of Fame. I like what Beth Moore had told us in the Believing God study. She told us that at the end of chapter 11 and before chapter 12 , we could insert our name. Could you insert your name there?

Hebrews 11:6 also tells us "But without faith it impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."

To even obtain salvation we must have faith in God. God does reward us for seeking Him.

2Corinthians 5:7 tell us "For we walk by faith not by sight." Sometimes don't you think it would be so much easier if could actually see Jesus. If we could sit down and talk one on one with Him and get a direct personal answer. If we could step in His footsteps, call Him on the phone, text Him, e-mail Him, or read His daily blog. No we don't get to all those things, instead by faith, we read His Word written over 2000 years ago over a period of many years and then apply to it my life. I pray to Him each day, have faith that He hears me and will answer those prayers. Have faith that He cares for me personally.

Because God has proven to me that does care for me personally, that He does hear me and that He does answer my prayers, I have faith in Him. He has proven to be faithful. I want to prove myself faithful also. I want my Lord to be satisfied with me. I want Him to be able to say that I am a faithful servant. I want my children to be able to say that I was a faithful follower of Christ. I don't want them to say that I was perfect or that I was a good person. I want them to say that I was faithful to my Redeemer, the One who gave His life's blood for me.

Do you have faith in the faithful God of heaven and earth? If so are you faithful to Him?

  1. Hi Linda,

I love your thoughts here. He has proven Himself faithful time and time again. He is always the same, no shadow of turning with Him. He will never leave me nor forsake me. I am His. My name is etched into the palm of His hand, never to be erased. No need to fear or doubt. We have a faithful God.

Thank you so much for your wonderful testimony to our FAITH-FULL God.

    Blessings to you this day.

Your comments are so welcome. Just make sure your comments are ones that you wouldn't mind that Mother read. I do promise not to invite her to read them though.
